Artist Statement

Béatrice Beraud, self-taught, is a textile artist in hand embroidery. Several of his embroideries have been selected for various exhibitions.

She works embroidery on fabric, photography, paper, clothing, canvas… It brings her serenity, it is a medium that helps her channel her emotions… She likes to embroider surrounded by her family but also alone. She likes to do, undo and return to embroidery. She loves this idea that embroidery is a popular medium again. We still have the image of our great-grandmothers embroidering at night by the fire. Like any art, because embroidery is an art, it evolves over time. Revisiting embroidery and giving it the same importance as it had before. Embroidery is a way of connecting the past to the present. Embroidery slows down time and allows messages to be transmitted. Embroidery makes us experience intense emotions, as a painting in a museum can do. She just needs a thread, a needle and materials.
