Artist Statement

Helen Banzhaf designs and makes textile ‘landscapes’ of multitudinous embroidered stitches.
Another Construction of Old Friends is a snapshot of a jumbled mound of some of her favourite Art Deco ceramics, forming a collection of interlinking patterns, shapes and colours.
Helen can view the embroidery and see the snippets of each vessel that prompts her memory and the recollection of the delight that each piece has given her over the years.

Helen works her embroidery designs on a beloved domestic sewing machine using 100% cotton threads on cotton calico.
