Artist Statement

Karen Torrisi has been embroidering professionally since 1994. Her embroidery has graced the Haute Couture catwalks in Paris, sparkled under lights on West End theatres stages in London, Europe & Australia, her embroidery won 1st in the Hand & Lock embroidery prize open category. She is a published author and teaches tambour embroidery worldwide.

Karen’s own work is inspired by the natural world. Her richly detailed composition is made from a variety of decorative elements & textures. Combining thread work, tambour & hand beading into multiple circular and floral motifs incorporated throughout, including fabric and metal flowers in shades of blue and gold, the overall effect is ornate and lavish, showcasing a harmonious blend of colors and materials.
