Artist Statement

Award winning artist Sarah Gwyer was born in Gloucestershire in 1985 and now lives and works in the Cotswolds. Primarily using stitch her practice draws together a vast array on influences producing work reflecting on the themes of celebrity, consumerism and commercialism.

After studying Fine Art in Cardiff, Gwyer headed straight to London to study a Masters in Printmaking at the University of the Arts, London. Having always been a bit of a Magpie, she started stitching beads on to her prints and soon stitch took over. By the time of her graduate show, she was exhibiting simultaneously in London and New York. Gwyer is passionate about ensuring embroidery is appreciated as the fine art form it is.
