Artist Statement

The Carnation embroidery has been inspired by an original 18th century dress panel. The use of the carnation in embroidery is very popular. The embroidery includes a range of different stitches using silk, silver, cottons, and silk wrapped purl. The most challenging aspect of this project was staying true to the symmetry and balance of the design.
