Artist Statement

Amanda is an embroidery artist, designer and teacher based in Chirk, North Wales. She has always been interested in fabrics and textiles and fell in love with embroidery from a very young age. She likes to work in a variety of embroidery techniques such as crewel work, blackwork, tambour, stumpwork and goldwork.

Amanda has always been fascinated by dragons and owls – they both appear in a number of her pieces along with Celtic symbols. For this piece she chose to combine a dragon with a Celtic symbol in her favourite technique of goldwork.
