Cernunnos – the horned god of wild places and creatures is worked in freemotion machine embroidery on hand painted calico. Multiple layers of cotton thread stitches, create the density and texture of the fur. Finished with layers of rayon thread to add lustre and applied to watercolour paper.
Gillian has a Fine Arts Degree in Conceptual Art. Her embroidery is self taught and for some years she has experimented with combining her embroidery with a growing variety of mediums. Inspired by the natural world and human experience. Whether realistic or abstracted, moody or uplifting, Gillian’s pieces are bold, richly coloured and textured. Her aim is to create a narrative with the viewer and she continually strives to generate atmosphere and anticipation.
