Artist Statement

Vicky gives the viewer an opportunity to connect and value the beauty of nature surrounding them, to realise it’s potential to enhance our lives. 

She demonstrates this through layers, each one adding another story to the piece. Using paint and mark making, before adding texture through mixed media and stitch. Detailed elements of nature are added in the form of hand and free machine embroidery allowing her time to be present, to connect and to observe the world.

Vicky is passionate about re-using everyday materials. Where possible she works on second hand bed sheets. Vicky is drawn to the idea that these have a history before she transforms them. This creates a stitched journey for everyone to enjoy. 

Please note the cost of delivery is not included in the price of the artwork. This will be an additional cost to the purchaser. Alternatively Vicky can hand the artwork over in person on collection day (Sunday 27 February at 6pm).
