Discovery Orchard

Artist Statement

A self-taught artist, Hannah is based in Devon and specialises in botanical thread painting and embroidered portraits. Her work draws inspiration from the natural world, the light, colours and sculptural qualities of seasonal wild flora and textures of the land. With a background in history and art Hannah is drawn to the detail of naturalistic elements within portraiture.

Discovery Orchard was inspired by the rediscovery of lost apple varieties in her local village in Devon. The embroidery is a celebration of the character and abundance of life found in traditional orchards.
