Dying Pines, Dying Light

Artist Statement

Emma Yeomans splits her life between her job as a news reporter, and her art. She works in contemporary hand embroidery with a focus on landscape and light. Her art is informed by her day job as a news reporter; the rhythm of embroidery is catharsis from some of the intense and challenging situations reporting takes her into, while the places she sees in her work provide inspiration for embroidery. Reporting can take her all around the world and it teaches her to see the beauty in unlikely places. She is based currently in London but grew up in Lewes, East Sussex and started her career in Brighton.
