Artist Statement

Wendy experiments with many different techniques to create pattern, shape and texture. She enjoys hand stitch and free machine embroidery. She incorporates printing, mark making and layering into her work. She also finds it satisfying to include upcycled bits and pieces that have been cherished to give a new lease of life or a transformation.

Wendy finds inspiration everywhere in mundane everyday life. She appreciates nature and observes the changing seasons closely. She could be out walking her dog in the countryside or the coast or visiting local landmarks when something catches her eye and becomes the starting point for her next artwork.

Many of her countryside scenes are inspired by the beautiful countryside of Herefordshire where she grew up.
