Artist Statement
Designed with her love of water lilies and drawing on inspiration from Monet, Fading Waterlilies initially started as a piece of whitework. In the process of stitching, Auburn started on designs for a new body of work based around her family and wanted to bring this into the fold. The piece then evolved, bringing in gentle hints of colour around the periphery of the design as well as beads and stumpwork to create textures and layers playing with themes on sight and touch in sympathy for her grandfather who suffers from Macular Degeneration.
