Fry Up

Artist Statement

Caroline is a hand embroidery artist using stumpwork and soft sculpture techniques to create 3D embroidered food. Food provides an almost unlimited source of inspiration for Caroline as she explores textures, colours, and shapes through the use of traditional embroidery stitches and textile construction. The majority of Caroline’s work is created in textiles, with the addition of mixed media such as resin and handmade beads, to enhance the juxtaposition of textures found in the food she is recreating.

The aim of Caroline’s work is to give the viewer a feeling of whimsical nostalgia or familiarity. Fry Up is an homage to Sunday morning visits to the café round the corner from Caroline and her husband’s first home together.
