Artist Statement
Golden Eagles are the iconic bird of Scotland. The artist has lived and worked in Scotland for the last 25 years, spending leisure time walking in the wild places and trying to play a small part in the conservation and regeneration of the natural world.
She first saw golden Eagles in the wild as a child and has always been awed by their beauty and grandeur. This work is a celebration of the majesty of these extraordinary birds, who mate for life, live in inaccessible eyries and defend their territory fiercely. The female has the larger head and beak and both show the extraordinary range of colours in their feathers that catch the light and glow gold in the sunlight as they soar overhead.
