Artist Statement
Inspired by the wonderful insect collection and the Natural History Museum in Tring and her love of nature and the environment, this piece presents a white moth “Pinned”. Rather than using colour Auburn wanted to show the individual beauty of moths through texture and tone, creating the patterns within the wings with different whitework techniques and showing the fragility of moths and indeed nature through the open spaces within the embroidery and the pure white thread.
