Artist Statement

Diana is a textile artist working in free-motion embroidery. She is known primarily for her works depicting scenes of bluebell woods and other country-side views but here she is debuting two new pieces inspired by our endangered wildlife animals.

The elephant and rhino have been created using a mixture of vintage fabrics sewn on to a base of fabric that has been dyed using tea and rusted metals. This builds layers and brings texture and depth to the animals’ features. Machine embroidery is used to create the finer details such as the skin and eyes.

Diana is a member of The Society of Designer Craftsmen and exhibits in galleries in London and other
venues.
