Artist Statement
Jane is an embroidery artist, and has practiced the fine art of traditional Japanese hand embroidery for over 20 years.
Using silk floss thread embroidered onto kimono or obi silk, her work can be summarised by a saying of the late Master, Iwao Saito, “The hands are the exit of the spirit”. With this in mind Jane aims to forge a connection with each piece, telling a story in each individual design.
In this piece Jane re-creates her journey along the path of Nuido (the way of embroidery) moving from purely traditional Japanese motifs such as plums and bamboo to those representing her English heritage, such as daisies and honeysuckle, while staying true to the spirit of her journey.
The price does not include delivery fee. The cost of postage would depend on the destination of the work. She could meet with the purchaser at the gallery on the collection day or negotiate the delivery cost if the purchaser is from another country.
