Artist Statement

Marg is inspired predominantly by nature and colour. Her thread painting embroidery is a perfect medium for her to explore colour blending and create textures that are perfectly rendered in thread and impossible to replicate in other mediums.

Marg embroiders in one strand of stranded cotton or silk floss on a plain grounding of usually silk or fine linen. This allows the embroidery to shine out and be the focus of the piece.

Marg enjoys the reactions of people to her thread painting, as usually it is thought to be a painted picture until they are informed it is embroidery.

Marg is currently writing her second book on thread painting.
