Artist Statement
Lynda uses both hand and machine embroidery techniques; her creative process “just a matter of following the thread”.
Line Drawing was inspired by the concept of Wabi Sabi, a Japanese world view centred on the acceptance of transience and imperfection, the ability to see beauty in decay, whether in the myriad of colours in a rusting object or the tattered layers of a billposter. In this case, observing the beauty of an innocuous piece of OSB (oriented strand board) pinned to a garage door, the imbedded lines reminiscent of stitching and the subdued colours dictating an abstract painting.
