Artist Statement

Vicky gives the viewer an opportunity to connect and value the beauty of nature surrounding them, to realise its potential to enhance our lives. She demonstrates this through many layers, each one adding another story to the piece. Initially adding texture before using paint, mixed media and stitch. Detailed elements of nature are added in the form of hand embroidery allowing her to be present, to connect and to observe the world.

Vicky is passionate about re-using everyday materials. Where possible she works on second hand bed sheets. Vicky is drawn to the idea that these have a history before she transforms them. This creates a stitched journey for everyone to enjoy.
