Hannah Cadogan was an apprentice of the Royal School of Needlework between 1999 – 2002. After working at the school for a year she went on to train as a nurse at King’s College University. Hannah, sadly, had to step away from nursing for 12 years due to serious mental illness. In this time Hannah’s embroidery became very important to her, as a relief from her mental distress. During this difficult time she helped on projects including St Paul’s Cathedral Vestments, the Grenfell quilt and HRH The Princess of Wales wedding dress.
In 2020, at the start of the COVID pandemic, Hannah returned to nursing and works at St Luke’s hospice in Northwest London and is the Representative of Lived Experience at the Royal College of Nursing. Hannah’s main embroidery project currently is working on a community quilt with The Cassel Hospital, a mental health hospital, where she was a patient between 2012 – 2016.
