Artist Statement

Anuradha Bhaumick is an artist from Bangalore, India. She learnt embroidery at the age of 5 from her mother. In January 2020 she left her day job as a Denim Designer at Wrangler to pursue embroidery full time. Since then she has been profiled by Vogue, Vice and My Modern Met, to name a few. Anuradha’s art has found homes across the globe, from Brazil to Australia and Germany to The Bahamas.

Through her art practice she wishes to embroider the objects that form the patina of one’s life story; creating a mini universe and exploring the relationship between a person and their surroundings. Anuradha uses her mother’s kurta scraps to collage her pieces. Anuradha’s art is rooted in a sense of belonging, the ability to be one’s own self without inhibitions & finding a sanctuary.
