Silent Roar 1

Artist Statement

Silent Roar 1 is one of a series of embroideries made by Sara Rickard based on the theme of rewilding. All pieces in this series consider the importance of rewilding in Britain and how we all should be part of encouraging nature to develop biodiversity to support climate change. The work aims to raise awareness and consider our role in what we can all do to create a more sustainable world.

In this piece the lion is a symbol that represents power and a force for good.  Memories of CS Lewis’s book ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’, with Aslan as the figure of good, the all powerful creator.
