Artist Statement

Helen Banzhaf designs and makes textile ‘landscapes’ of multitudinous embroidered stitches.

That Old Red Moon has the moon dominating an imaginary view beyond a window. This powerful lunar event lights up and creates short-lived shadows, patterns and colours before it continues on with its never-ending journey.

Helen works her embroidery designs on a beloved domestic sewing machine using 100% cotton threads on cotton calico.
