The Colour of Gold

Artist Statement

Fiona Robertson is a full-time artist living and working in North Yorkshire. Her work is an emotional response to the beauty and diversity of the landscape. She explores this firstly through photography, recording the colours of the changing seasons and capturing light at different times of the day. She refines her images in her studio,  accentuating the textures, light, colour and movement of the landscape. 

Fiona builds her surfaces from small pieces of hand dyed fabrics and yarns that are then machine embroidered to build depth and tone. Intricate detail and texture is then added through hand embroidery. The finished work takes many weeks to create. She exhibits her work throughout the UK and has many private collectors in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia. Her studio in Yorkshire is open to view by appointment, she welcomes commissions.
