Christine Cole, a retired teacher, moved from London to the North West in the 1970s to study French and Art – specialising in Fabric Printing.
After qualifying, she became a French teacher and taught for more than 34 years in Cheshire.
After retiring, Christine wished to combine her love of art and the environment. She attended courses run by textile artist Alison Holt where she learnt the techniques of Freehand Machine Embroidery on painted silk backgrounds, depicting landscapes, seascapes and gardens using source photos taken by herself, family and friends.
Christine has exhibited at the Three Counties Open Art Exhibitions, the Stitch by Stitch exhibition at the Willow Gallery Oswestry and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
The Cottage Garden portrays elements of the beautiful gardens of Wollerton Old Hall, Shropshire.
The picture is embroidered using cotton thread onto hand painted habutai silk.
The price does not include shipping/delivery. Collection from the gallery after the exhibition closes would be preferable.
