Artist Statement

This design was inspired by her travels in Japan, the use of the Japanese thread to create textures and light that enhanced an image she was fortunate to witness of Courting Gannets in South Africa.

The Japanese gold thread is couched down using different colours to create more colour texture within the thread on a calico base fabric, in between the different size circles are shades of French Knots. The Gannets are silk shaded using a Fillossell silk thread.
