Artist Statement

This textile art is based on a paper lamination of a photograph taken along the path revealed as the tide ebbs from the edge of the Hayle Estuary.  It is machine and hand embroidered, with darning highlighting some pebbles.  The new micro-tidal landscape reflects the phenomenon of light and currents, so evident in the area.  The work is influenced by a love of the natural landscape, particularly the coastline and sea where weather plays such an important role in the perceived colour and character.  Paper lamination can allow a degree of transparency that suggests the magic of the moment that passes all too quickly.
