Artist Statement

Elizabeth is a self-taught embroidery artist based in Bath. She has been making detailed embroidered artwork as well as hand bound notebooks for the last 6 years. Her love for nature and animals is a big inspiration in her pieces. Elizabeth enjoys making small custom bespoke pieces as well as slightly larger ones.

She chose the name unica semper avis meaning only one phoenix [bird] in the world at a time as we are all unique and there is only one of us, with the similarities of the title and piece both being a one of a kind.

The embroidery is hand stitched in Dmc thread on a light grey cotton fabric. Instead of the traditional fire colours for the phoenix she chose to use blue and yellow tones.
