Artist Statement
This piece of work is a part of a series of panels looking at why someone would get up one day and walk away from their life. The work is Inspired by conversations with people who have either considered this or have walked away. This particular piece is based on a very domestic scenario.
In the work Bridget has combined her lifelong love of life drawing and relatively newly acquired skill of needlelace. The work started as a charcoal drawing of people in mid-step, hoping to capture the energy and determination needed for the first step away. Then using thread to express the light, dark and tension in the physical body, the feet, transforming the idea to the action.
