Artist Statement

All forms of landscape continue to play an important part of Jan’s practice. Her aim is to capture the essence of a time and place, a fleeting light or a closely observed aspect. Inspired by the Wetlands
near Lefkada in Greece, this work celebrates the colour and growth patterns of the grasses near the waterline.
Layers of hand and machine stitching worked on soluble material formed a new fabric.
