Artist Statement

Rosie Spiegelhalter taught herself embroidery in lockdown and remains resolutely untrained. She focusses on hand embroidered hoops, mostly of architecture and nature, as a hobby outside of work. This particular piece aims to capture a symmetrical, continuous circle. Inspired by artist Nneka Jones, the strip and accompanying colour change are here applied to create a “yinyang” effect.
