The Sea Itself

Artist Statement

Arlene is a musician as well as an embroidery artist so much of her work is inspired by music. Her piece The Sea Itself was inspired by the music to Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “A Sea Symphony” set to a poem by Walt Whitman.

Arlene’s embroidery suggests the waves of the ocean swirling and dancing.
